Curaçao’s Terrence Agard earns second European bronze with Dutch relay

BIRMINGHAM (DA) — Curaçao-born sprinter Terrence Agard earned his second bronze medal of the European Athletics Championships on Sunday, helping the Netherlands finish third in the men’s 4×400-meter relay.

Agard ran the third leg for the Dutch quartet of Eugene Omalla, Keenan Blake and Jonas Phijffers, which finished in 2 minutes, 59.49 seconds.

Italy won the title in 2:59.16, narrowly beating Great Britain’s 2:59.19. The Netherlands held off Belgium, which placed fourth in 2:59.51.

The medal was the Netherlands’ first in the men’s 4×400 at the European Championships.

Agard also ran the third leg in Monday’s mixed 4×400 final, joining Phijffers, Lieke Klaver and Myrte van der Schoot to secure bronze in 3:10.77.
