VANCOUVER (DA) — The Curaçao Football Federation (FFK) participated in the 76th FIFA Congress on Thursday, April 30, in Vancouver, Canada, with president Gilbert Martina and secretary-general Jan Peter Dogge representing FFK.
The congress addressed several major FIFA business items, including approval of the 2025 annual accounts and the 2027–2030 budget cycle, including the budget for 2027.
A new budget for 2027–2030 was also presented, showing an increase to $14 billion compared with the previous 2023–2026 cycle.
A key part of the new budget cycle is the FIFA Forward Program. Under the next phase, FIFA Forward 4.0, the program is set to increase by 20% compared with FIFA Forward 3.0.
The program provides financial support to FIFA member associations for operational expenses as well as the development of football activities, competitions and infrastructure.
Both the 2025 annual accounts and the full 2027–2030 budget cycle were approved unanimously by FIFA’s affiliated members.
At the end of the congress, FIFA president Gianni Infantino officially announced that he will run again for the presidency in elections scheduled for next year. It would be his third term.
Outside the formal program, FFK held several constructive conversations with representatives of FIFA and Concacaf on the further development of football in Curaçao. Those discussions support FFK’s 2025–2029 strategic management plan, which was approved by FFK members last September.
The congress closed with a group portrait of Concacaf representatives from countries participating in the 2026 World Cup, which will be held in Canada, the United States and Mexico.
The group included Martina; Mexican football federation president Mikel Arriola; Concacaf president Victor Montagliani; Haiti normalization committee president Monique Andre; Canada Soccer president Peter Augruso; and Panama football federation president Manual Arias.
