ATLANTA (DA) — Curaçao’s Ozzie Albies went 3-for-5 with two doubles, an RBI and a run scored, extending his hitting streak to eight games, but the Atlanta Braves fell 8-5 to the Philadelphia Phillies in 10 innings Saturday.
Albies tied the game with an RBI single in the sixth inning, his first game-tying hit in the sixth inning or later since Sept. 27, 2023, against Chicago-NL.
The performance marked Albies’ third consecutive multi-hit game and the 79th three-hit game of his career, moving him past Javy Lopez for the eighth most by a Brave in the Atlanta era.
Two of Albies’ three hits came against left-handed pitching, continuing one of his strongest splits. Among active right-handed hitters with at least 300 plate appearances, Albies has the best batting average against lefties at .327.
Albies’ two doubles gave him five for the season, and his RBI raised his season total to 16. He finished with five total bases and did not strike out.
Atlanta finished with nine hits. Drake Baldwin, Matt Olson, Michael Harris II and Austin Riley also drove in runs for the Braves, with Harris collecting two RBIs.
Philadelphia won the game in extra innings, with B. Keller earning the win and Tyler Kinley taking the loss for Atlanta.
