PANAMA CITY (DA) — Colombia scored twice in the bottom of the ninth to edge Curaçao 6-5 on Friday in the final game of the opening round of baseball at the IV Juegos Suramericanos de la Juventud Panamá 2026.
Curaçao dropped to 2-3 and finished fourth in the standings. Colombia improved to 4-1 and secured second place behind unbeaten Panama at 5-0. Brazil finished third at 3-2.
Curaçao took a 5-4 lead with a run in the top of the ninth, but Colombia answered with two in the bottom half to end it.
Curaçao finished with five runs on seven hits and committed three errors. Colombia scored six runs on nine hits and played error-free.
Claeten Sille led Curaçao with two hits and one RBI. Jeadyon Chirino, Raishelnon Ogenia and Shemar Sophia Jacobus each drove in a run, while Jay-dlynn Wiel and Victor Nieves Mack each scored once and added a hit.
Javier Ramos Morelos earned the win for Colombia. Raishelnon Ogenia took the loss for Curaçao.
Curaçao will face Brazil in the bronze medal game on Saturday at 10 a.m. Curaçao time. Colombia will meet Panama for the gold medal at 1 p.m. Curaçao time.
