PANAMA CITY (DA) — Brazil beat Curaçao 7-4 on Tuesday in U17 baseball at the IV South American Youth Games, spoiling a late Curaçao rally after the island side tied the game in the penultimate inning.
Rayshelnon Ogenia delivered the biggest swing for Curaçao with a three-run home run in the first inning, helping give the team an early boost.
Curaçao kept battling and pulled even late, but Brazil edged back in front to secure the win.
Despite the loss, Curaçao showed resilience at the plate and stayed in the game until the final stages.
Curaçao returns to action Wednesday morning against Peru at 8 a.m.
