WILLEMSTAD — Curaçao’s first appearance at the FIFA World Cup will come with a historic look to match the moment, as global sportswear leader Adidas prepares to outfit the Caribbean nation with fully custom-designed kits for the 2026 tournament.
The bespoke jerseys — meaning kits created specifically for Curaçao rather than adapted from generic templates — are expected to be released between March and June 2026. Unlike standard teamwear, bespoke kits feature unique colors, patterns and details tailored exclusively to one national team.
Footy Headlines, a football kit and boot news website, reported that Adidas is working on last-minute, country-specific designs for Curaçao. While production timelines remain tight, the plan is for the custom jerseys to be available ahead of Curaçao’s World Cup debut.
The partnership carries striking symbolism. Adidas is a German brand, and Curaçao’s first-ever World Cup match will be against Germany in Houston. For Curaçao, the matchup pairs a debut on football’s biggest stage with a meeting against one of the sport’s traditional powers — while wearing kits designed by the opponent’s homegrown manufacturer.
The bespoke kits mark the next phase of Curaçao’s partnership with Adidas and Dutch retailer Voetbalshop. When the agreement was announced, Curaçao wore standard Adidas teamwear during World Cup qualifiers, rather than custom-designed shirts.
That shift followed the national federation’s move away from former supplier Kelme. Under the previous arrangement, the Federashon Futbòl Kòrsou (FFK) did not receive revenue from merchandise sales. The current deal changes that model, giving FFK 20 percent of every sale made through Voetbalshop and Adidas — a significant step toward financial sustainability tied directly to fan support.
FFK is now preparing to bring that momentum closer to home. The federation plans to open a “Blue Wave” fanshop in January at Sambil Mall Curaçao, with the mall partnering to provide a physical storefront.
The shop will offer caps, hats, mugs, scarves and multiple Curaçao-branded jerseys. The official World Cup kits will arrive later, but the store is intended to give supporters a dedicated space to celebrate the national team as anticipation builds toward 2026.
For Curaçao, the combination of custom World Cup kits, a new commercial strategy and a growing fan presence reflects a defining chapter in its football story — one that blends pride, progress and a long-awaited place on the global stage.
