Juninho Bacuna makes second straight league start as Sontje Hansen remains sidelined

GAZIANTEP (DA) — Curaçao international Juninho Bacuna made his second consecutive Süper Lig start Sunday as Gaziantep FK lost 2-0 at Trabzonspor, while teammate Sontje Hansen remained sidelined through injury.

Bacuna stayed on until the 90th minute before Mervan Müjdeci replaced him. The midfielder also received a yellow card during the defeat.

His previous league start came against Erzurumspor FK on Oct. 24, when he played until the 74th minute in a 3-1 home loss. Bacuna also started the 4-0 Turkish Cup victory at Etimesgutspor on Oct. 27, making Sunday’s appearance his third consecutive start across all competitions.

Stefan Savić put Trabzonspor ahead in first-half stoppage time, and Ernest Muçi added the second goal in the 61st minute.

Hansen, meanwhile, continues to receive treatment for a thigh muscle injury. In its Oct. 31 medical update, Gaziantep FK said the winger was following an individual strength program in the gym as part of his recovery.

The club did not provide a timetable for his return. Hansen was among 8 players included in the medical update, with treatment and rehabilitation being monitored daily by the club’s medical staff.
