IPSWICH (DA) — Shuryjano Cornecion scored in both halves Tuesday as Jong PSV defeated Ipswich Town’s under-21 team 7-0 in the Premier League International Cup.
The Curaçao under-20 international was one of 3 PSV players to finish with 2 goals, alongside Ayoni Santos and Mikkel Bro Hansen. Rivas Manuhutu added the other goal.
Cornecion’s performance followed his senior PSV debut earlier this month against Heerenveen. The midfielder, who joined the club’s academy in 2016, has represented Curaçao’s under-20 team in World Cup qualifying.
For the trip to England, first-team coach Peter Bosz made several players available to Jong PSV coach Stijn Schaars. Cornecion, Santos and Bro Hansen were joined by goalkeeper Nick Olij, Kiliann Sildillia and Noah Fernandez.
Santos supplied the opening 2 goals. PSV continued to extend its advantage before halftime, reaching the break ahead 6-0. Cornecion then delivered the only goal of the second half to complete the scoring.
Brighton & Hove Albion and Crystal Palace’s under-21 teams remain on Jong PSV’s cup schedule. Schaars’ side returns to league action Monday at home against NAC Breda.
