BOCA CHICA (DA) — Curaçao’s Placement Round game against Canada was postponed Tuesday as rain disrupted the U18 Pan American Baseball Championship for a second consecutive day, leaving the team awaiting confirmation of when it will return to the field.
The matchup had been scheduled for 1 p.m. at Field 1 of the IPL Academy complex in San Antonio de Guerra. Curaçao’s game against Cuba was postponed Monday.
WBSC Américas announced five Super Round games for Wednesday, but the revised program did not include any Placement Round matchups or makeup dates for Curaçao’s two postponed games. The announcement did not say those games had been canceled or that Curaçao’s participation had ended.
Curaçao remains at 1-1 in the Placement Round standings following Sunday’s 15-3 loss to Mexico in 6 innings. Canada and Cuba are both 1-0, Mexico is 1-1 and Brazil is 0-2.
Curaçao entered the Placement Round after finishing third in Group A at 1-2. Its opening-round victory came Saturday against Brazil, 8-6 in 8 innings, following losses to the Dominican Republic and United States.
