Cornecion, Obispo and Geertruida in PSV squad for Porto clash

PORTO (DA) — Shuryjano Cornecion, Armando Obispo and Lutsharel Geertruida are among PSV’s 22 players in Porto for Tuesday’s Champions League match against FC Porto.

A starting place would give Cornecion his Champions League debut at 18. The midfielder has yet to appear in the competition, making any playing time in Portugal another milestone following his recent first-team breakthrough.

An unofficial lineup prediction places Cornecion in attacking midfield, with Obispo and Geertruida forming the central defensive pairing. Those selections remain unconfirmed ahead of coach Peter Bosz’s official lineup.

Bosz praised Cornecion’s contribution as a substitute against ADO Den Haag on Saturday. Looking ahead to the matches against Porto and Feyenoord, the coach also indicated that young players would receive opportunities.

Cornecion made his official first-team debut in PSV’s 2-0 victory over sc Heerenveen, entering in the 81st minute. PSV announced Friday that it had extended his contract through mid-2031.

The match at Estádio do Dragão is the third league-phase fixture for both clubs, each seeking its first Champions League victory this season. PSV has 1 point after drawing 1-1 with Shakhtar Donetsk and losing 1-0 at RB Leipzig. Porto lost its opening 2 matches.
