ATLANTA (DA) — The Atlanta Braves will consider whether to bring back Curaçao’s Jurickson Profar for the final year of his contract after performance-enhancing drug suspensions interrupted both of his first two seasons with the club.
President of baseball operations Alex Anthopoulos said Sunday that the Braves will hold internal discussions about Profar’s return for 2027. The club has yet to decide whether he will remain in its plans.
Profar signed a three-year, $42 million contract before the 2025 season. He served an 80-game suspension that year, then missed the entire 2026 season and postseason following a second positive test and a 162-game suspension. His appeal of the second suspension was resolved in March.
In his first season with Atlanta, Profar hit .245 with 14 home runs and 43 RBIs in 80 games. The Braves had planned to move him from left field to designated hitter for 2026 before the second suspension sidelined him.
