Hensley Meulens begins work as Aragua’s hitting coach

MARACAY (DA) — Curaçao’s Hensley Meulens has begun working with the Tigres de Aragua’s hitters after arriving in Maracay to take up his new coaching role in Venezuelan winter baseball.

Meulens moves to hitting coach after spending the past two seasons as bench coach for the Leones del Caracas. He replaces Héctor Giménez, who handled Aragua’s hitting duties last season in the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League (LVBP).

Speaking to the Tigres’ press department, Meulens said he had received a warm welcome and had already held his first working session with the hitters. He offered a positive early assessment of the players and said the team’s goal was to bring a championship to Aragua’s fans.

The assignment extends Meulens’ experience in Venezuelan baseball, which also includes stints with the Navegantes del Magallanes, Bravos de Margarita and Pastora de los Llanos.

It also reunites him with Víctor Gárate, Aragua’s sporting director, who previously gave Meulens a coaching opportunity with Caracas.
