ZEIST (DA) — Ro-Zangelo Daal has left the Netherlands U21 training camp because of minor physical complaints and will miss the team’s final two European Championship qualifiers.
The 22-year-old AZ winger has returned to Alkmaar and will not be available for matches against Slovenia on Oct. 2 and Bosnia and Herzegovina on Oct. 6.
Daal was part of the Jong Oranje squad for the 0-0 draw against Norway but did not play, watching the match from the stands. Concerns over his availability had already prompted coach Michael Reiziger to call up Jaden Slory.
The development comes as Daal continues to attract attention in Curaçao. He is among the young players approached about representing the Curaçao men’s national team but has so far kept his options open while remaining involved with the Netherlands youth setup.
Curaçao coach Dick Advocaat recently said players around Daal’s age are either continuing with the Netherlands or waiting to see whether an opportunity with the senior Dutch national team develops.
Daal has made three appearances for Jong Oranje, making his debut in a 2-2 European Championship qualifier against Israel on Sept. 9, 2025.
His absence comes at a crucial stage of the qualifying campaign. The Netherlands can no longer finish first and needs strong results against Slovenia and Bosnia and Herzegovina while also depending on results elsewhere to remain in contention for a playoff place.
