Kifisia’s urgency and Antonisse connection won over Roshon van Eijma

ATHENS (DA) — Roshon van Eijma chose Kifisia FC because the Greek club showed the strongest interest and moved quickly to secure him, with Curaçao national team colleague Jeremy Antonisse’s presence making the opportunity more attractive.

Kifisia announced the signing of the 28-year-old central defender Saturday. Van Eijma had been a free agent after making 58 appearances across all competitions during two seasons with RKC Waalwijk.

Van Eijma told Deporte Awe that several clubs had expressed interest, including teams from France’s Ligue 2, Spain’s second division, Georgia and the top two divisions in Belgium.

Kifisia distinguished itself through the urgency of its approach. The opportunity to play at club level with Antonisse, alongside whom Van Eijma plays for the Curaçao national team, added to the appeal of the move.

The club’s vision for Van Eijma centered on his mentality and commitment. He said Kifisia wanted a player who competes with heart and gives everything for the team in every match — qualities he believes the club found in him.

Van Eijma began his career in the Willem II academy before playing for Roda JC Kerkrade and Germany’s Preußen Münster. He returned to the Netherlands in 2021 and recorded eight goals in 95 league and cup appearances for TOP Oss before joining RKC in 2024.

The defender has made 28 appearances for Curaçao and represented the country at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. His arrival gives Kifisia two Curaçao internationals alongside Antonisse.
