VENLO (DA) — Curaçao international Trevor Doornbusch is open to leaving VVV-Venlo this summer, with the Dutch club prepared to cooperate with the goalkeeper as he searches for a new opportunity.
According to sources close to VVV, the club will not stand in Doornbusch’s way and is willing to allow him to leave on a free transfer despite his contract running through mid-2027.
The expected departure follows VVV’s signing of goalkeeper Youri Schoonderwaldt from Sparta Rotterdam earlier this month. The move could provide Doornbusch with an opportunity to take the next step in his career elsewhere.
Doornbusch was part of Curaçao’s squad at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, serving as the backup to first-choice goalkeeper Eloy Room. Curaçao lost to Germany and Ivory Coast and drew with Ecuador during the tournament.
The 27-year-old began his career in Ajax’s youth academy before joining Heerenveen. He moved to Telstar in 2020 and later played for FC Dordrecht before signing with VVV in 2025.
Doornbusch made 13 appearances for VVV and conceded 27 goals.
