WILLEMSTAD (DA) — Curaçao made its World Cup send-off count Saturday night, beating Aruba 4-0 at Stadion Ergilio Hato before moving into the next stage of its preparation in the United States.
All four goals came in the second half.
Joshua Brenet opened the scoring in the 54th minute, and Jeremy Antonisse doubled the lead in the 68th. Livano Comenencia made it 3-0 in the 83rd before Juninho Bacuna closed the scoring in stoppage time at 90+1.
Curaçao also kept creating danger between the goals. Leandro Bacuna hit the post in the 75th minute, while Comenencia was booked in the 80th before later scoring Curaçao’s third goal.
The match also gave Curaçao a chance to use its squad before leaving the island. Tyrese Noslin replaced Brenet in the 62nd minute after Brenet had opened the scoring.
Curaçao started with Trevor Doornbusch in goal, along with Shurandy Sambo, captain Jurien Gaari, Roshon van Eijma, Godfried Roemeratoe, Kenji Gorré, Ar’jany Martha, Jearl Margaritha, Brandley Kuwas, Gervane Kastaneer and Brenet in the starting XI.
The win closed Curaçao’s final home appearance before continuing its World Cup schedule next week.
The team is scheduled to arrive at West Palm Beach on June 8 at 5:25 p.m. local time before continuing its preparation at FAU Athletics in Boca Raton.
Curaçao has practices scheduled at FAU Athletics from June 9-13.
The team also will hold a community practice June 11, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at FAU Athletics in Boca Raton.
Curaçao faces Germany on June 14 at noon local time.
