MADRID (DA) — Brian Hooi was stopped in the first round Saturday, falling to Umakhan Ibragimov by KO/TKO in the WOW Lightweight Championship main event at WOW 31.
Ibragimov finished the bout at 3:12 of Round 1 at Madrid Arena. The finish was listed as a right hook followed by ground strikes.
The loss dropped Hooi to 23-13. Ibragimov improved to 11-2.
The fight was scheduled for 5 rounds and served as the main event of The Way of Warrior FC card, which aired in the United States on UFC Fight Pass.
Hooi entered the matchup listed at 70.3 kilograms, the same as Ibragimov. Hooi was listed at 1.80 meters, with Ibragimov at 1.75 meters.
The result also adds another chapter to the rivalry between the fighters. Hooi had previously defeated Ibragimov, and several MMA accounts immediately pointed to the possibility of a trilogy after Saturday’s finish.
