WILLEMSTAD (DA) — Blue Wave Academy’s U-11 selection is in the Netherlands for an international tour that includes the Orange Veins Cup Rotterdam and friendly matches against Willem II and Feyenoord.
The 16-player squad is the first Blue Wave Academy selection to represent the academy internationally. The team is scheduled to play eight matches during its stay from May 27 through June 2, with the Orange Veins Cup set for May 30 and 31.
Blue Wave Academy U-11 will open its schedule against Willem II before beginning tournament play against Liverpool FC, Ilves Tampere, NEC Nijmegen and Eastside FC. Two additional Orange Veins Cup matches are scheduled for May 31, with opponents to be determined.
The tour will close June 1 with a friendly against Feyenoord.
The trip is intended to give the local players experience against Dutch and international opposition while providing an opportunity to be seen by scouts in the Netherlands.
Shemuel Janzen and Ericson Bregita lead the Blue Wave Academy U-11 squad. Marina de Miranda serves as masseuse and team manager, while Rudsel Schmidt, a Curaçao Football Federation (FFK) board member, is head of delegation.
