Jürgen Locadia named USL Championship Player of the Week after hat trick for Miami FC

TAMPA (DA) — Curaçao international Jürgen Locadia was named USL Championship Player of the Week for Week 12 after scoring a hat trick in Miami FC’s 4-3 victory against Louisville City FC, the league announced.

Locadia scored twice in the first half Saturday at Pitbull Stadium before completing his hat trick with seven minutes remaining, helping Miami defeat the defending Players’ Shield holders.

The performance marked Miami FC’s second hat trick since the club joined the USL Championship in 2020. Locadia also hit the woodwork once and completed 13 of 15 passes in the victory.

“I think we deserved this win,” Locadia said after the match. “It was a difficult game, but I’m happy with the win.”

Locadia, who has been named to Curaçao’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, has scored five goals across the USL Championship and Prinx Tires USL Cup this season.

The victory lifted Miami FC into the top four of the USL Championship’s Eastern Conference just over a third of the way through the season.

Locadia was also selected to the USL Championship Team of the Week. He received 100 percent of the Player of the Week vote from the USL National Media Panel, which includes representatives from each league media market.
