DÜSSELDORF (DA) — Jordi Paulina faces an indefinite absence with a knee injury, Fortuna Düsseldorf confirmed Thursday, following his replacement in Curaçao’s squad for the CONCACAF Nations League quarterfinals against Panama.
Coach Jens Langeneke said the forward was injured during Tuesday’s training session. Fortuna has not announced a timetable for his return.
Dick Advocaat called up AZ forward Jerolldino Bergraaf to replace Paulina, giving Bergraaf his first selection for Curaçao’s senior team. Bergraaf is on loan from Excelsior and previously represented the Netherlands at under-19 level.
Curaçao faces Panama on Nov. 12 and 15, with the winner advancing to the Nations League Finals and qualifying for the Gold Cup.
Paulina will also miss Fortuna’s visit to FC Ingolstadt on Saturday. Langeneke disclosed the injury while discussing his squad’s availability ahead of that match.
