ALKMAAR (DA) — Ro-Zangelo Daal has signed a new contract keeping him at AZ through mid-2031, extending an association that began in the club’s academy in 2015.
The 22-year-old Amsterdam-born winger has Curaçao roots and has represented the Netherlands at under-21 level. In September, Curaçao coach Dick Advocaat identified Daal among the players approached about joining the national team who preferred to wait while keeping their Netherlands ambitions open.
At club level, Daal has scored five goals in 11 Eredivisie appearances this season. He also contributed a goal and an assist in AZ’s 4-0 Johan Cruijff Shield victory in Eindhoven.
His development at AZ began after a move from DVC Buiksloot. He made his professional debut for Jong AZ in April 2022 and helped the club win the UEFA Youth League in 2023.
Daal scored on his first-team debut against Fenerbahçe on Nov. 7, 2024, helping AZ win 3-1 in the Europa League. He finished the 2024-25 second-division season with 15 goals in 31 appearances for Jong AZ.
