Shuryjano Cornecion scores first Eredivisie goal in PSV’s 7-0 win

EINDHOVEN (DA) — Curaçao under-20 captain Shuryjano Cornecion scored his first Eredivisie goal for PSV in a 7-0 victory over Willem II, drawing praise from coach Peter Bosz.

Cornecion struck in the 81st minute to complete the scoring, becoming PSV’s seventh different goalscorer of the match.

Bosz described the academy player as a first-team prospect and praised his technical ability, dribbling and capacity to beat defenders. Above all, the coach was pleased with the effort Cornecion brought to the game.

“The most important thing is the energy he puts into the game. He showed that today,” Bosz said.

The goal added to an October in which Cornecion also made his senior debut and signed a contract extension.

PSV established a 2-0 halftime lead through Mauro Júnior in the 20th minute and Guus Til in the 44th. Sven Mijnans scored shortly after the interval, followed by Ruben van Bommel, Ricardo Pepi and Kodai Sano before Cornecion’s late contribution.

Despite the margin, Bosz said Willem II’s aggressive pressing had forced PSV to work for its advantage. Til’s goal shortly before halftime and the early second-half breakthrough gave the coach room to rest players.

Bosz also praised the energy of his substitutes and the team’s determination to keep attacking through the closing minutes.
