EINDHOVEN (DA) — PSV has extended Shuryjano Cornecion’s contract through mid-2031, committing to the 18-year-old attacking midfielder after his official first-team debut last weekend.
Cornecion, who has captained Curaçao’s under-20 team, signed his first professional contract with PSV in 2025. That agreement ran until 2028; the new deal adds three years.
The midfielder said the extension reflected the club’s confidence in his development. His next goal is to establish himself as a regular in PSV’s first team, and he hopes to earn further contracts with the club.
His breakthrough came against sc Heerenveen, when coach Peter Bosz introduced him in the 81st minute of PSV’s 2-0 victory. Cornecion had already trained with the senior squad during preseason and played at Philips Stadion in a friendly.
Bosz praised his potential after the Heerenveen match, pointing to the midfielder’s distinctive qualities while acknowledging that he still has much to learn.
PSV technical manager Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink said Cornecion had made substantial progress in recent weeks. He described the debut and contract extension as significant steps and said the club looked forward to helping him develop further.
Born in Oisterwijk, Cornecion joined PSV’s youngest academy age group in 2016. A decade later, he is playing regularly for Jong PSV, with 14 appearances since making his debut for the reserve side earlier this year.
Cornecion, who has also represented the Netherlands at youth level, was welcomed by a guard of honor formed by academy players at his contract signing.
