Tahith Chong scores as Sheffield United beats Lincoln City 3-0

SHEFFIELD (DA) — Tahith Chong marked his return to Sheffield United’s starting lineup with a goal Saturday as the Blades beat Lincoln City 3-0 at Bramall Lane in the English Championship.

Chong doubled the lead in the 52nd minute, running onto Rothwell’s through ball and beating goalkeeper Wickens from a tight angle. Patrick Bamford scored the other two goals as United returned to winning ways after the international break.

Manager Chris Wilder recalled Chong among four changes to his starting lineup. He played until the 78th minute, when Donovan replaced him. Jairo Riedewald came off the bench for Rothwell in the 84th.

United took time to break through, with chances limited for much of the first half. Bamford opened the scoring in the 43rd minute, meeting McCallum’s low cross after a sustained spell of possession.

Rothwell threatened early in the second half before setting up Chong. Bamford then completed the scoring in the 77th minute with a right-footed volley into the bottom corner from Brereton Díaz’s cross.

Goalkeeper Cooper preserved the clean sheet with a late close-range save against substitute Ladefoged, who then missed the rebound.

United next travels to Portsmouth for a midweek match.
