Curaçao U-20 captain Shuryjano Cornecion receives PSV first-team call-up

EINDHOVEN (DA) — Curaçao U-20 captain Shuryjano Cornecion will begin training with PSV Eindhoven’s first team and is set to be on the bench for Friday’s Eredivisie match against sc Heerenveen, coach Peter Bosz confirmed Thursday.

The 18-year-old midfielder has earned the opportunity following his development at Jong PSV, where he has recorded 2 goals and 1 assist in 9 league appearances this season.

Bosz explained during Thursday’s press conference that Cornecion’s inclusion was already planned and was not simply a response to the injuries affecting PSV’s squad.

The coach believes Cornecion has the potential to eventually establish himself at PSV’s senior level.

“He has the potential for that, and that potential is very important to us,” Bosz said.

Cornecion previously spent time with the first-team squad at the beginning of the season and made a positive impression on the coaching staff.

Under the new arrangement, he will train with the senior players while continuing to receive competitive playing time with Jong PSV in the Dutch second division.

Bosz also addressed PSV’s injury situation ahead of Friday’s match, confirming that no additional injuries had been reported. However, the availability of several players returning from international duty still needed to be assessed.

Cornecion has also represented Curaçao at youth international level. He captained the national U-20 team during the 2026 CONCACAF qualifying campaign, scoring twice in a 6-0 victory over St. Vincent and the Grenadines in Willemstad on Feb. 27.

The midfielder joined PSV’s youth academy in 2018 and signed his first professional contract with the club in March 2025.

His inclusion against Heerenveen gives him an opportunity to make his Eredivisie debut, although his immediate development will continue through first-team training and matches with Jong PSV.
