NIJMEGEN (DA) — Curaçao defender Deveron Fonville has signed a new contract with NEC that will keep him at the Dutch club through the summer of 2030.
The 23-year-old left-footed defender added another year to his previous agreement after establishing himself in Nijmegen following his arrival from FC Dordrecht in the summer of 2025.
Fonville has made 41 appearances for NEC. His progress at club level also led to a place with Curaçao, and he appeared in all three of the national team’s matches at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Before joining Dordrecht, Fonville played for IJsselmeervogels.
NEC technical director Carlos Aalbers said the club wanted to reward Fonville’s rapid development after several teams showed interest in him during the most recent transfer window.
Aalbers also noted that NEC was pleased to retain the defender despite that outside interest, with the new agreement securing Fonville’s future at the club through 2030.
