GAZIANTEP (DA) — Curaçao international Sontje Hansen has joined Gaziantep FK from Middlesbrough on loan with an option to buy.
The move gives the Turkish club two Curaçao players, with Hansen joining national team midfielder Juninho Bacuna. Bacuna returned to Gaziantep after spending part of last season on loan at FC Volendam and scored in the club’s 2-1 preseason victory over OFK Belgrade in July.
Gaziantep said it reached an agreement with Middlesbrough and Hansen before the 24-year-old signed his contract during a ceremony attended by club president Memik Y?lmaz, vice president Güney Da?deviren and sporting director Cemil ?brahim Cans?z.
Hansen can play across the front line, primarily on the right wing but also on the left or as a center forward. He joined Middlesbrough from NEC Nijmegen in 2025 after beginning his professional career with Ajax and Jong Ajax.
Born in Hoorn, Netherlands, Hansen came through Ajax’s academy and represented the Netherlands at youth level. He helped the Dutch win the 2019 UEFA European Under-17 Championship before capturing the Golden Boot at that year’s FIFA Under-17 World Cup with six goals, including a hat trick against Nigeria.
Gaziantep credited Hansen with 51 goals and 41 assists in 253 professional appearances.
