ZWOLLE (DA) — Curaçao international Sherel Floranus will miss PEC Zwolle’s next two matches after accepting a three-game suspension, one of them conditional, following his red card against Ajax.
The disciplinary proposal from the Dutch professional football prosecutor was accepted by Floranus, PEC Zwolle announced. The defender will therefore sit out the club’s away matches against FC Twente and sc Heerenveen.
Floranus was sent off during PEC Zwolle’s 2-0 home defeat to Ajax on Sunday after a heavy challenge on Lucas Rosa. Referee Yannick van der Laan showed the right back a straight red card.
PEC had kept Ajax scoreless until Floranus’ dismissal. Jorthy Mokio broke the deadlock about 20 minutes after the red card before Julian Brandt added Ajax’s second goal in stoppage time.
The suspension temporarily removes the Curaçao defender from PEC Zwolle’s lineup as the club continues its Eredivisie campaign.
