Eloy Room wins USL Championship Save of the Week

WILLEMSTAD (DA) — Curaçao goalkeeper Eloy Room has won the USL Championship Fans’ Choice Save of the Week award for Week 22 after his stoppage-time penalty stop preserved a point for Miami FC.

Room denied Chisom Egbuchulam in the 96th minute of Miami’s 2-2 draw against Detroit City FC on Aug. 1. He dove to his left to keep out the spot kick with one of the final actions of the match.

The veteran goalkeeper finished first in the fan vote ahead of Sporting Club Jacksonville’s Jake McGuire, Birmingham Legion FC’s Jassem Koleilat and Louisville City FC’s Hugo Fauroux.

Room, Curaçao’s starting goalkeeper at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, made several saves against Detroit before delivering the decisive stop.
