FIFA and CONCACAF express confidence in FFK under interim president Fabi Constansia

WILLEMSTAD (DA) — FIFA and CONCACAF have expressed confidence in the Curaçao Football Federation (FFK), its board under interim president Fabi Constansia and the continued development of football on the island, the federation announced following meetings held this week.

Representatives of both governing bodies also praised Curaçao’s sporting achievements in recent years and the way the country has represented itself internationally. The passion and commitment of Curaçao’s supporters were also recognized as important contributors to the success and image of the national game.

The meeting comes during a leadership transition at the FFK following Gilbert Martina’s recent resignation as president for health reasons.

FIFA and CONCACAF representatives expressed appreciation for Martina’s contribution to football in Curaçao. The FFK said the federation made important sporting and organizational progress during his tenure and thanked him for his dedication to the organization and the wider football community.

“This is a moment of confidence, responsibility and looking ahead,” Constansia said. “On behalf of the FFK board, I thank FIFA and CONCACAF for their support of our federation and Curaçao’s football community.”

Constansia also reaffirmed her commitment, alongside the full FFK board, to stability, good governance and the continued development of the organization.

“Our focus is on strengthening football in Curaçao at every level and creating opportunities for current and future generations of players,” she said.

One of the federation’s next major challenges will be the 2026-27 CONCACAF Nations League. Curaçao was drawn into Group A of League A alongside Costa Rica, Haiti, Trinidad and Tobago, Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic.

“Kòrsou has shown in recent years that we can compete at the highest level in our region,” Constansia said. “With the same ambition, determination and pride, we will continue working toward the federation our players, clubs and supporters deserve.”

The FFK said it will continue working with the wider football community to promote growth, professionalization and a stronger, more unified future for the sport in Curaçao.
