Curaçao international Armando Obispo’s move to RC Lens collapses in final stage

EINDHOVEN (DA) — Curaçao international Armando Obispo’s proposed transfer from PSV to RC Lens has collapsed in the final stage after the defender was unable to finalize personal terms with the French club, according to reports.

PSV and Lens reached an agreement Friday following difficult negotiations. PSV had reportedly sought about €5.5 million for the central defender and accepted Lens’ offer after rejecting several earlier bids.

Obispo then traveled to France to complete the move. Although a verbal understanding on personal terms appeared to have been reached, the parties were unable to formalize the agreement in writing.

The exact reason for the breakdown remains unclear, with none of the parties involved commenting publicly. Obispo was also expected to undergo a medical examination before the transfer could be completed.

The failed move is not expected to alter PSV’s transfer plans. Obispo was not required to leave and remains part of coach Peter Bosz’s sporting plans for the coming season.

PSV is currently holding a five-day training camp in Germany. It remains unclear when Obispo will rejoin the squad.
