WILLEMSTAD (DA) — Dick Advocaat has reportedly decided to remain head coach of the Curaçao national team for another year, extending a tenure that was scheduled to end July 31.
Dutch sports marketer Chris Woerts confirmed the news Wednesday during an appearance on the television program Vandaag Inside Oranje, following earlier reports that Advocaat could stay with the national team.
“He will continue for another year,” Woerts said.
The reported extension would keep Advocaat in charge as Curaçao prepares to return to League A of the CONCACAF Nations League after earning promotion from League B.
Curaçao’s League A campaign is scheduled to begin during the group-stage window from Sept. 21 through Oct. 6. The draw will take place July 23 and determine Curaçao’s opponents.
The 2026-27 Nations League will also serve as the qualification pathway for the 2027 CONCACAF Gold Cup. The League A quarterfinals are scheduled for November, followed by the Nations League Finals in March 2027.
Advocaat’s decision would provide continuity following Curaçao’s historic participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup. An official announcement from the Curaçao Football Federation (FFK) has not yet been made.
