FFK releases Curaçao squad from Boca Raton base after World Cup exit

WILLEMSTAD (DA) — The Curaçao Football Federation (FFK) thanked the people of Curaçao for their support during the FIFA World Cup 2026 and confirmed the national team was released from its Boca Raton base after its campaign ended with a 2-0 loss to Ivory Coast on Thursday evening.

FFK said the team returned immediately to its base camp in Boca Raton after the match. With Curaçao eliminated, the tournament officially ended for the full group of players and staff.

The federation said the decision to release the squad from Boca Raton was made because many of Curaçao’s internationals must report back to their clubs in the coming days. Some players already have club competition obligations this week.

Players without immediate club commitments will have time off with their families before resuming their responsibilities with their clubs.

FFK said the move gives the full group a chance to spend time with family and prepare for the continuation of their club duties after a demanding World Cup campaign.

The federation also expressed gratitude to Curaçao’s fans, saying the support from the community, including those who traveled to the stadiums, was a source of inspiration for the players and technical staff.

FFK said the 2-0 defeat does not take away from the commitment, resilience and professionalism shown by the team throughout the campaign.

The federation wished all players and members of the technical staff success and thanked them for representing Curaçao with honor and pride.
