Ozzie Albies advances as finalist for NL All-Star start at second base

NEW YORK (DA) — Ozzie Albies moved one step closer to his first fan-elected All-Star start after finishing first among National League second basemen in Phase 1 of the 2026 KONAMI eBaseball MLB All-Star Ballot.

Albies, the Atlanta Braves second baseman from Curaçao, received 1,498,141 votes to advance as one of two finalists at the position. He will face Philadelphia Phillies second baseman Bryson Stott, who received 1,388,744 votes, in Phase 2 voting.

Albies is a three-time All-Star, having been selected in 2018, 2021 and 2023. A fan election would make him the third Atlanta second baseman to earn the honor, joining Marcus Giles in 2003 and Dan Uggla in 2012.

Phase 2 voting begins Monday at 12 p.m. ET and ends Thursday, July 2, at 12 p.m. ET. Vote totals from Phase 1 do not carry over, and fans can vote once per day on MLB platforms.

The winner at each position, including three outfielders in each league, will be named a starting position player for the 2026 MLB All-Star Game presented by Mastercard.

Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Dodgers and Ernie Clement of the Toronto Blue Jays already secured automatic starting spots after leading their respective leagues in Phase 1 voting. Ohtani led all Major League players with 3,341,257 votes, while Clement led the American League with 3,232,932.

The full 2026 All-Star rosters, including starters and reserves, will be announced July 4 on FOX.

The 96th Midsummer Classic will be played July 14 at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia. The game will be televised nationally by FOX Sports, with FOX Deportes providing Spanish-language coverage in the United States.
