Curaçao promoted to League A for new Nations League

MIAMI (DA) — Curaçao will compete in League A when the fifth edition of the CONCACAF Nations League begins in September, with the tournament again serving as the qualification pathway for the 2027 CONCACAF Gold Cup.

CONCACAF confirmed that all 41 men’s senior national teams from its member associations will take part in the 2026/27 competition. The official group stage draw is scheduled for Thursday, July 23, at 7 p.m. ET.

Curaçao is among four promoted teams in League A, joining the Dominican Republic, El Salvador and Haiti. The rest of League A includes Canada, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, Jamaica, Martinique, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago and the United States.

League A will feature 16 teams, with the 12 lowest-ranked teams entering a Swiss-style group stage split into two groups of six. Each team will play four matches, two at home and two away, during the September-October FIFA match window.

The top two teams from each League A group will advance to the quarterfinals, where they will join the four highest-ranked League A teams, who receive direct entry. The quarterfinals will be played over two legs in November 2026, with the aggregate winners advancing to the Nations League Finals.

The League A finals, including the semifinals, third-place match and final, are scheduled for March 25-28, 2027, at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.

League B will include 16 teams divided into four groups of four, with each team playing six matches. League C will include 9 teams divided into three groups of three, with each team playing four matches.

For the first time, Leagues B and C will each end with centralized championship rounds in March 2027. League B and League C group stage matches will also be played at centralized venues.

Promotion and relegation will continue at the end of the tournament. The fifth- and sixth-place teams in League A will be relegated to League B. League B group winners will be promoted to League A, while fourth-place teams will drop to League C. In League C, the group winners and the best second-place team will be promoted to League B.

CONCACAF said the exact qualifying criteria for the 2027 CONCACAF Gold Cup will be announced later.
