BOSTON (DA) — Ceddanne Rafaela collected three hits, drove in two runs and stole a base as the Boston Red Sox shut out the Atlanta Braves 8-0, leading the Curaçao contingent in a game that also featured Ozzie Albies and Chadwick Tromp.
Rafaela went 3-for-5 with a run scored, delivering a two-run single during Boston’s six-run fourth inning. He singled in each of his first three at-bats as the Red Sox built a commanding lead and finished with 15 hits.
The performance gave Rafaela his 11th multi-hit game and fourth three-hit game of the season. It was also his fourth game with multiple RBIs.
Rafaela is batting .317 with a .373 on-base percentage and a .908 OPS over his last 25 games with a plate appearance. He has 32 hits in 101 at-bats during that stretch, including six doubles, two triples and four home runs, with 15 RBIs and four stolen bases.
Tromp went 1-for-4 for Atlanta, doubling in the seventh inning for his first extra-base hit in the majors since June 28, 2025, when he homered for the Baltimore Orioles against Tampa Bay. The double was his third extra-base hit since the start of the 2025 season.
Albies finished 1-for-3 with a walk for the Braves, who were held scoreless on five hits and committed three errors.
Boston scored six runs in the fourth inning, then added one in the seventh and another in the eighth. Early earned the win for the Red Sox, improving to 5-2 with a 2.95 ERA, while Elder took the loss for Atlanta, falling to 4-3 with a 2.50 ERA.
