KUALA TERENGGANU (DA) — Terengganu FC says Curaçao national team striker Gervane Kastaneer will remain with the Malaysian club after the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with his contract running through December.
Mohd Syahrizan Mohd Zain, chief operating officer of Terengganu Football Club Sdn Bhd, said Kastaneer will continue with the team in the 2026-2027 Malaysian League season, which is scheduled to begin in August.
“Yes, the Curaçao international player will remain with TFC in the M-League next season because he still has time remaining on his contract,” Mohd Syahrizan said.
The club official said Kastaneer signed a one-year deal beginning during the second transfer window of the 2025-2026 season in January, with the agreement set to expire in December.
The comments come amid reports about a possible departure for the forward after the current season in Malaysia concludes.
Kastaneer will be part of the Curaçao squad set to compete in the World Cup for the first time. Curaçao will face Germany, Ecuador and Ivory Coast in Group E at the tournament in the United States, Mexico and Canada.
Terengganu FC could also receive financial compensation through FIFA’s Club Benefits Programme for releasing Kastaneer to represent Curaçao at the World Cup.
Mohd Syahrizan said the club has not yet received any compensation and that the final amount has not been determined.
