UPDATE: Curaçao closes three public practices as historic Noordwijk World Cup camp approaches

WILLEMSTAD (DA) — Three Curaçao training sessions previously scheduled to be open to the public during the national team’s World Cup camp in Noordwijk have been moved behind closed doors, reducing the number of public practices in the Netherlands from six to three.

The morning sessions at SJC Noordwijk on May 26, May 27 and May 28, each scheduled from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. local time, will now be closed practices with no public or media access.

Supporters will still be able to attend three open training sessions at SJC Noordwijk: May 25 from 5:45 to 7:15 p.m.; May 26 from 5 to 6:30 p.m.; and May 28 from 5:45 to 7:15 p.m.

Curaçao will also hold a clinic and meet-and-greet on May 27 at 3 p.m. at RVV Blijdorp in Rotterdam, providing another opportunity for supporters to see the team during its stay in the Netherlands.

The access changes do not alter the training workload. Curaçao remains scheduled for six 90-minute sessions in the Netherlands from May 25 to May 28, including double-session days on May 26 and May 28, before traveling to Scotland for a final practice at Hampden Park on May 29.

Objectively, the camp remains a demanding but controlled preparation block. The squad will do its heaviest work early in the week, with the training volume unchanged, while public access is now concentrated around three evening sessions and the Rotterdam event before the May 30 friendly against Scotland.

The national team will stay at Grand Hotel Huis ter Duin, the Noordwijk seaside landmark linked to Dick Advocaat’s 1994 World Cup preparation with the Netherlands. Advocaat was at Huis ter Duin with Oranje shortly before leading the team to the quarterfinals of the 1994 World Cup in the United States.

Huis ter Duin adds a historical and practical layer to Curaçao’s camp. The hotel dates back to Noordwijk’s rise as a seaside destination in the late 19th century and sits by the beach on the town’s dunes. Its hotel, dining, wellness, meeting and event facilities make it suited for a national team preparing for a major tournament.

For Curaçao, Noordwijk remains a significant stop on the road to the World Cup: a concentrated training camp at a historic Dutch base under a coach whose own World Cup story already runs through Huis ter Duin.
