Curaçao’s World Cup opener to feature at Los Angeles Fan Festival opening weekend

LOS ANGELES (DA) — Curaçao’s FIFA World Cup 2026 opener against Germany will be part of the featured match lineup at the FIFA Fan Festival Los Angeles, with tickets for the four-day opening-weekend celebration now on sale.

The Los Angeles World Cup 2026 Host Committee announced Wednesday that the fan festival will run June 11-14 at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, with Curaçao’s Group E match against Germany set for Sunday, June 14 at 10 a.m. local time.

That places Curaçao directly in one of the early centerpiece public-viewing events tied to the start of the tournament in Los Angeles, where fans will gather to watch matches on giant screens while taking part in entertainment, cultural programming and interactive activities.

General admission tickets are priced at $10, inclusive of fees, while children under 12 will be admitted free. Premium tickets will cost $30 and include access to a hospitality tower lounge with air-conditioned shaded space, food and beverage options, and elevated sightlines over the festival and match screens.

For Curaçao supporters in Southern California and traveling fans following the Blue Wave, the inclusion of Germany-Curaçao on the official opening-weekend schedule gives the national team a place in one of the city’s main World Cup gathering points outside the stadium environment.

The host committee said the festival will be designed as an all-ages event and will offer daily programming built around the World Cup match schedule.

“The FIFA Fan Festival will be the central gathering place for the FIFA World Cup in Los Angeles, bringing fans from across the globe to celebrate the game and the culture that surrounds it,” Kathryn Schloessman, CEO of the Los Angeles World Cup 2026 Host Committee, said in the announcement.

The June 14 program will also include Netherlands against Japan at 1 p.m. Earlier featured matches across the opening stretch are Mexico against South Africa on June 11, Canada against Bosnia & Herzegovina and the United States against Paraguay on June 12, and Brazil against Morocco plus Haiti against Scotland on June 13.

The food and beverage lineup will reflect both Los Angeles and the nations represented in the tournament field, with the host committee highlighting international options and local vendors as part of the fan experience.

Cobi Jones, a Los Angeles World Cup 2026 community ambassador, said the city would be “hosting the world” during the tournament, with the fan festival serving as one of its main communal celebration points.

Fans attending Curaçao’s featured festival match day are being encouraged to reach the Coliseum by Metro or rideshare. The E Line stops at Expo Park/USC and Expo/Vermont, both near the venue. Limited paid parking will also be available at Exposition Park, the USC campus and surrounding lots and garages, with accessible parking offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

The host committee said tickets may also be available at the Coliseum box office on event days, subject to availability.
