Curaçao routs Peru 12-2 for second win in baseball at South American Youth Games

PANAMA CITY (DA) — Curaçao erupted for six runs in the first inning and went on to beat Peru 12-2 on Wednesday in the baseball competition at the IV Juegos Suramericanos de la Juventud Panamá 2026.

The win gave Curaçao its second victory in three games in the opening round.

Curaçao finished with 13 hits against two for Peru. Curaçao also committed one error, while Peru had two.

Victor Nieves Mack drove in four runs and collected two hits to lead the Curaçao offense. Jeadyon Chirino scored three times and added two hits, while Jay-dlynn Wiel went 2 for 2 with two runs scored and one RBI.

Jaylliard Emperador added two RBIs for Curaçao. Raishelnon Ogenia had two hits and scored twice, and Shemar Sophia Jacobus also finished with two hits.

The result left Curaçao tied for second in the opening-round standings at 2-1 alongside Brazil and Colombia. Panama remained first at 3-0, while Argentina and Peru were both 0-3.

Curaçao is scheduled to play Panama on April 23 before closing the opening round against Colombia on April 24.
