ATLANTA (DA) — Ozzie Albies gave Atlanta another steady offensive performance Sunday, reaching base for the third straight game to open the season even as the Braves fell to the Kansas City Royals in the final game of their three-game set at Truist Park.
Albies has now reached base in all three games to start his season for the fifth consecutive year, becoming the sixth Braves player since 2000 to do that. The group also includes Austin Riley, Chipper Jones, Brian McCann, Andruw Jones and Mark DeRosa.
The second baseman also continued one of the majors’ quietest active streaks. Albies did not strike out in any of his four plate appearances Sunday, pushing his run without a strikeout to 32 consecutive plate appearances dating to 2025. That is the longest active streak in the major leagues.
Sunday marked the end of Atlanta’s only scheduled series against Kansas City this season. The loss moved the Braves to 4-4 all-time against the Royals at Truist Park.
Atlanta is 9-7 all-time against Kansas City in the city of Atlanta. Since Major League Baseball moved to a balanced schedule in 2023, the Braves are 8-4 against the Royals.
