Former Curaçao coach Patrick Kluivert joins Suriname as advisor ahead of Bolivia playoff

PARAMARIBO (DA) — Former Curaçao national team coach Patrick Kluivert has joined Suriname as an advisor, adding another well-known football figure to the program ahead of its clash with Bolivia in the FIFA World Cup 2026™ Play-Off Tournament.

Suriname said Kluivert and Clarence Seedorf will serve as advisors and act as a sounding board for Brian Tevreden as the federation continues to develop its football project.

“Four years ago, when I started in my role, I already asked Clarence Seedorf to take on this position, but at that time it simply wasn’t the right moment,” Tevreden said. “Now, four years later, it feels like the perfect moment for Clarence and Patrick to step into this beautiful journey for Suriname.”

For Curaçao, Kluivert is a familiar figure. He coached the Curaçao national team from 2015 to 2016 and also returned for a brief stint in 2021.

That gives Suriname an advisor with direct experience in Caribbean international football while also bringing another prominent voice into Tevreden’s circle.

Suriname’s next match is scheduled for March 26, when it will face Bolivia in Path B’s second semifinal of the FIFA World Cup 2026™ Play-Off Tournament at 6 p.m. at Monterrey Stadium in Monterrey.
