The loss left Curaçao second in the group on nine points after four matches. Curaçao finished with three wins, one loss and a plus-9 goal difference, with 13 goals scored and four conceded.

Haiti closed the group stage with a perfect 12 points from four wins. Haiti finished with 16 goals scored, one allowed and a plus-15 goal difference.

The match had entered as the decisive showdown for the top spot in Group D, and Haiti’s late surge turned it into the result that sent Curaçao out of first place and sent Haiti through.
