WILLEMSTAD (DA) — The MLB Players Association is expected to file a grievance to appeal the reported 162-game suspension of Jurickson Profar, according to a person familiar with the union’s position who was not authorized to speak publicly.
Major League Baseball, meanwhile, has made no public announcement regarding Profar. A person familiar with the league’s position said MLB is aware of the day’s media reports but has not issued any announcement and therefore has no further comment at this time.
Profar, a veteran outfielder and designated hitter for the Atlanta Braves, has also been named to the Kingdom of the Netherlands national team roster for the upcoming 2026 World Baseball Classic.
A spokesperson for the Kingdom of the Netherlands national team told Deporte Awe the program is working to provide clarity and is waiting to learn more from Major League Baseball.
As the situation develops, the league’s silence, the union’s planned appeal, and the national team’s response underscore the uncertainty around the reported discipline and its potential implications for both Profar’s MLB season and his World Baseball Classic availability.
