Curaçao U-20 beats Guyana 3-2 in qualifiers opener

WILLEMSTAD (DA) — Curaçao’s U-20 national team opened the 2026 CONCACAF Under-20 Qualifiers with a 3-2 victory over Guyana at Stadion Rignaal “Jean” Francisca.

Guyana struck first through Bryan Wharton in the eighth minute, but Curaçao responded and built a two-goal cushion before the closing minutes.

Damiënthly Bernardina equalized from the penalty spot in the 20th minute, Dayvi Busby put Curaçao ahead in the 34th, and Bernardina made it 3-1 with his second in the 68th.

Guyana pulled one back late through Reiss Parris in the 90th minute.

The match was played in front of a full stadium, with spectators informed the venue had reached maximum capacity and that no additional fans would be allowed inside for safety reasons.

Curaçao’s U-20 team will next face St. Vincent & The Grenadines on Thursday night, with an 8 p.m. kickoff scheduled at Stadion Rignaal “Jean” Francisca.
