LIVINGSTON, Scotland (DA) — Livingston confirmed Friday that defender Joshua Brenet has exercised an option to leave the club and join Kayserispor in Turkey’s top flight for an undisclosed fee.
The fullback joined Livingston in October and departs after a brief spell at the Home of the Set Fare Arena. The club said Brenet decided his future lies in central Turkey and leaves with its best wishes.
Brenet, 31, was born in Kerkrade in the Netherlands and came through PSV Eindhoven, where he broke into the first team as a teenager, made his European debut in the Europa League and won three Dutch league titles. He later played in Germany with TSG Hoffenheim, had a loan spell at Vitesse and returned to the Netherlands with FC Twente before a stint in Qatar with Al-Rayyan SC.
Internationally, Brenet’s path has included two national teams. He made two senior appearances for the Netherlands national football team in 2016, including a World Cup qualifier, before later switching to represent the Curaçao national football team. He debuted for Curaçao in 2024 in World Cup qualifying and has remained in the mix as an experienced option at fullback.
