Union Laguna drops Jonathan Schoop from 2026 roster

TORREÓN — Algodoneros del Unión Laguna said Jonathan Schoop will not return for the 2026 season in Liga Mexicana de Beisbol.

Schoop’s two-year run in Torreón included steady middle-of-the-order production. In 2024, he played 81 games and hit .253 with 15 home runs and 60 RBIs. In 2025, he played 91 games and batted .280 with 15 homers and 64 RBIs.

Unión Laguna brought the Curaçao-born infielder to the club ahead of the 2024 season.

In its announcement, the club thanked Schoop for his professionalism and dedication during his time with the team.
