Curaçao striker Kastaneer lands in Malaysia as Terengganu FC signs him through 2026

TERENGGANU (DA) — Terengganu FC has signed Curaçao striker Gervane Kastaneer on a contract through the end of December 2026, the Malaysian club announced Tuesday, adding the 29-year-old as an import player as it looks to strengthen its attack for the current season.

Terengganu said Kastaneer, born in Rotterdam, Netherlands, fills an open import slot and stands 1.85 meters (6 feet, 1 inch). The club pointed to his recent experience in Indonesia and said it expects him to add quality and competition up front as it prepares for league and tournament play.

Kastaneer’s club career has moved through several European leagues before his shift to Asia. Coventry City announced in June 2019 that it agreed to sign him from NAC Breda on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee, and the English club later announced in February 2021 that he joined Heart of Midlothian on loan in Scotland.

In July 2021, PEC Zwolle announced it signed him to a two-season contract with an option for an additional year. In Indonesia, Persib Bandung announced in January 2025 that it signed Kastaneer to a 1½-year contract, and the club later posted a farewell message in June 2025 marking the end of his stint there.

For Curaçao, Kastaneer joins Terengganu as one of the national team’s attacking options, with the club describing him as the team’s striker. In World Cup qualifying, Concacaf credited him with leading Curaçao with five goals during its campaign.
