Curaçao confirms Australia trip, keeps Scotland friendly in sight

WILLEMSTAD (DA) — Curaçao’s national futbòl team has accepted an invitation to participate in the FIFA Series in March, with matches scheduled in Australia against Australia and China, the Federashon di Futbòl Kòrsou (FFK) confirmed.

The agreement with FIFA has been signed, securing Curaçao’s participation and travel to Australia and setting up a demanding set of international tests for the Blue Wave as it continues its build toward the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The decision marks a shift from earlier hesitation within the federation about making the long-distance journey, underscoring the importance placed on high-level competition as Curaçao prepares for the world stage.

FFK also reaffirmed that discussions remain advanced for a friendly against Scotland, tentatively scheduled for May 30 in Scotland. While no agreement has been signed, talks are continuing toward finalization, keeping the European matchup firmly in sight.

Looking ahead to the final stretch of World Cup preparation, the federation is also evaluating the possibility of one additional friendly in early June. Officials said Curaçao would prefer to play that match at home, though the decision will depend on costs.

FFK said further updates will be provided as agreements are completed and preparations continue.
