Miami FC signs Curaçao national team goalkeeper Eloy Room

MIAMI – The Miami Football Club announced it has signed goalkeeper Eloy Room ahead of the 2026 USL Championship season, pending league and federation approval.

Room joins Miami FC after his most recent stint with Cercle Brugge in Belgium’s Juliper Pro League. Before that, he played for Vitesse Arnhem in the Netherlands’ Eredivise, including earlier stints from 2009 to 2018. The club said he became a Dutch champion and won the Dutch Cup in 2017 and 2018.

Room also spent five seasons with the Columbus Crew in Major League Soccer from 2019 to 2023. Miami FC said he won the MLS Cup twice and the Campeones Cup during that period.

“I am really excited to join Miami FC and help the club achieve success! I believe that with my leadership and mentality I can elevate the club to an even higher level,” Room said.

On the international side, Room has made 65 appearances for the Curaçao national team, the club said, including recently qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with 11 clean sheets in that run. Miami FC said Room will be its first active player to compete in the World Cup in the same season.

Miami FC said Room has competed with Curaçao in the Gold Cup, CONCACAF Nations League and Caribbean Cup, including an appearance in the Caribbean Cup final. The club said he has more than 100 career clean sheets and will be a key addition for the 2026 season.
